THE 4TH EDITION OF THE LOS ANGELES BRAZILIAN FILM FESTIVAL – LABRFF 2011 – PRESENTS WRITER AND REPORTER MAYRA DIAS GOMES AS DIVA OF THE NATIONAL CINEMA
“Embracing the Future of Brazilian Cinema is the slogan of the festival’s art theme campaign”
Los Angeles, California, April 2nd, 2011 – The 4th Los Angeles Brazilian Film Festival – LABRFF, which will take place on April 27-30 at the Landmark Theatre, Westside Pavilion, presents the writer and reporter Mayra Dias Gomes as inspirational muse of its art theme campaign of 2011. The founders of the festival Nazareno Paulo and Meire Fernandes sought to honor the future of Brazilian cinema with the slogan “Embracing the future of Brazilian Cinema” and a modern artwork. “We wanted to give a new face to the existing moment of the national cinema; so we chose a model with a personality that expresses modernism, intelligence and attitude.” Paulo explains.
The production of the image that reflects the future of the Brazilian cinema in the capital of the industry was formed by a crew of excellent professionals which included Ana Paula Negrão from Sao Paulo, as the leading photographer and Douglas Sato, famous hair stylist and make-up artist, who has worked with a variety of Brazilian celebrities.
The making of the photo shoot was directed by the publicist Luísa Mauaccad who graduated with a degree in Marketing and Advertisement from FAAP (Fundação Armando Álvares Penteado – University from São Paulo, Brazil). She recorded the entire photo shoot and behind the scenes production and will soon be releasing the video on Youtube and on the festival’s website.
“This year we hope to offer the public a classic image inspired by the divas of the American cinema, such as Jean Harlow, but modernized to represent this moment in time”, analyzes Paulo. “They are two concepts hard to combine but I believe the classic result of the photo shoot blended really well with the modern design of the artwork.” He adds. The designer of LABRFF is André Raw, from Rio de Janeiro, who worked virtually to produce the pieces of the campaign.
